| REAL SPICY BREAKS OWN RECORD IN CLASSIC OPEN! |
| 2006 is indeed Real Spicy's year. After pocketing the Presidential Gold Cup just two weeks ago at the same Sta. Ana Park, the Real Quiet-Spicy Tale pride of Team Esguerra concluded its 2006 winning streak with a masterful run at the Philracom Classic Open which included some of the best imported and local runners of the land. Running fifth for most of the way and allowing its ally Wild Orchid to dictate the pace along side speedball Ever Mine Now, substitute rider Louie Balboa shifted to high gear when the John B. Cordero-ridden Empire King launched an attack at the last 800. It was a one-on-one show all the way from thereon. With both riders applying the whip, Real Spicy just showed too much class in this field as it crossed the wire a clear six lengths ahead of the David Lee charger. "Im just too much impressed by this horse. I can't compare him to yet to Wind Blown." said a jubilant team Esguerra owner Hermie after the race as the pride and joy of their stable broke its own record for the punishing 2050 by clocking 2:08.6 (22'-23'-25'-25-27)thereby establishing itself as the undisputed Horse of the Year with 13 consecutive wins for 2006. Just a week ago, another Team Esguerra longshot entry Defiant, pocketed the same amount as it snatched the 2006 Philracom-sponsored Juvenile Championship for colts & fillies over the much favored One Man's Soul and Sir Luis at the San Lazaro Leisure Park. "It has been a favorable year for us and rest assured that our team will keep up the pressure as we will be introducing for the first time five of Wind Blown's progenies for the coming year" added Esguerra in reference to the much-awaited coming of their champion's offsprings. A special contest "give-a-name-to-Wind Blown's-offsprings" has been proposed by Esguerra which is open to all racing fans of the retired champion. Mechanics of this game will be announced in the early part of 2007. |
